The sacred Purge

In my work with clients (whether that be therapy/coaching, womb, or quantum clearing), within my community, and within myself I have witnessed time and time again something I call ‘‘The Sacred Purge”.

It is not always one dramatic release (although it can be) but sometimes it unfolds gently, wave by wave, over days or weeks…as the body, heart, and soul unwind, let go, and clear what they no longer need to hold.

In a healing context, purging is the release of stored material (emotional, psychic, physical, somatic, or spiritual) that the body and soul are ready to let go of. It’s not something we “force,” but rather something that happens when the system has enough safety and capacity to bring unconscious or held material into awareness and expression.

It’s the way our system unravels stored weight (emotional, energetic, even ancestral) to make space for more life to move through us.

It can show up as:

Emotional: waves of crying, rage, laughter, grief, or trembling.

Somatic: shaking, sweating, yawning, vomiting (in medicine work), changes in breath or posture.

Physical: old aches and pains resurfacing, flare ups of symptoms, the body bringing long held imbalances to light as they clear.

Psychic: surfacing of memories, visions, symbolic dreams, ancestral material.

Spiritual: feelings of heaviness leaving, sensing entities/energies depart, profound openings into clarity or peace afterward.

Why Purging Happens:

Nervous System Release: Trauma and unprocessed experiences are stored in the body. When safety is established, the body completes what was once frozen or suppressed.

Energetic Detox: In spiritual practice (breathwork, medicine ceremonies, prayer, energy healing, fasting), the system begins to clear what isn’t aligned with the soul’s truth.

Cosmic Currents: Even solar flares, astrological transits, and collective shifts can amplify frequency, flushing distortion through the body.

Initiatory Pathways: Many traditions (indigenous, mystical, yogic, tantric) speak of purging as a passage. The body-soul temple making space for new frequencies of being.

The Gifts of Purging

Though at times highly uncomfortable, purging is not a “breakdown” but rather a breakthrough. It often brings:

*Greater inner spaciousness.
*Clarity of thought and vision.
*Emotional lightness.
*Increased embodiment and vitality.
*Spiritual renewal; a sense of the sacred moving more freely through you.
*The resolvement of long standing patterns held within the psyche, soul, & soma
*A closer, more unobstructed, connection with God

Purging across emotional, somatic, physical, psychic, and spiritual domains is a sacred unburdening. We are clearing what no longer belongs as we step toward more inherent wholeness.

Often during purging episodes, we are given the opportunity to clear something all the way back to its origin.

A trigger may arise that pulls us into the depths of childhood or ancestral wounding inviting us to finally see, feel, and release the patterning that shaped us for so long.

Sometimes the body itself reveals this root. What has lived as “chronic illness” or hidden imbalance may flare up as the system completes its cycle of healing. What most mistake as a set back is actually resolution coming into form.

Purging does not just empty what is heavy. It transforms us at the root, making way for true restoration.

Through somatic release, emotional witnessing, psychic discernment, and spiritual reclaiming, the soul finds its rightful resonance. It also is our opportunity to reclaim our sovereignty by clearing distortions, archontic deception, and parasitic hold’s so that we may stand fully in alignment with our Divine Self and inner truth.

Supporting Yourself Through Purging

Emotional & Somatic:
On a somatic and emotional level, the most important thing we can do is allow ourselves to feel everything moving through. Purging is often messy, raw, and unpolished…and it is supposed to be. Sometimes the body needs to sob deeply, sometimes we need to scream, to shake, to let the trembling move through until it completes. This is the nervous system finally discharging what it has carried.

It is also important to remember that amidst emotional overwhelm, safety is everything. Sometimes we must consciously create a safe space for ourselves to unravel, or reach toward safe people who can hold us in love and presence. Learning to hold space for ourselves in this way (to allow without judgment and to comfort the body as she releases) is one of the most nurturing, therapeutic acts we can offer ourselves.

Psychic:
On a psychic level, purging can look like visions, dreams, ancestral imprints, or hidden memories rising to the surface. This material can feel intense, but its purpose is to surface so that it may finally be released. Journaling what comes through can be immensely helpful, as can drawing, painting, or turning the images into art. Giving form to the psychic purge is a way of integrating it, and of reminding the body-mind that what is rising is clearing.

Mantras or simple reminders are also supportive here: “I am letting go”. “I am safe”. “This will pass”. It’s helpful to remind yourself that you are purging and it won’t be forever. It is simply a doorway, and it is moving you toward freedom.

Physical:
On a physical level, purging can ask a lot of the body, and so nourishment is essential. Hydration is one of the most supportive things we can do (drinking plenty of fresh, purified, mineralized water, replenishing electrolytes, and restoring trace minerals that keep the nervous system grounded). Some people find that gentle fasting, sauna or sweating, breathwork, or movement practices help to support detox pathways during times of purge.

It is also helpful to return to nature: to immerse in fresh or salt water, to place your feet or body on the earth, to breathe fresh air into your lungs. These acts of grounding not only support the body’s clearing processes but also remind the soul that release is natural.

Spiritual:
On a spiritual level, purging is greatly supported through prayer and communion with the Divine. Staying anchored in prayer helps us remember that we are not alone, that there is a greater Light moving through us. This is also the time to call upon spiritual protection and assistance asking for help in clearing what is not ours, what is parasitic or distorting, and what no longer serves our path.

Sometimes this means cutting cords to people, places, or timelines that are surfacing for release. Sometimes it simply means surrendering into the arms of God, asking for strength as the wave moves through. In this, we are reminded that the sacred purge is purification and the soul’s way of making more space for truth.

Belonging & Support:
And perhaps most importantly: you do not need to do this alone. While much of purging happens in solitude, we are also designed to heal in relationship. Calling upon safe friends, family, or practitioners who can hold you in loving presence can make all the difference. Being witnessed, supported, and cared for while releasing is vital as most of our wounding has occurred through relational means.

Every purge completes. Every wave passes. And on the other side, there is always more space, more breath, and more life waiting for you.

———

Purging is never easy, it asks much of the body, heart, and spirit. Yet each wave you are unburdening, and moving through a threshold that clears the way for more life, more love, and more truth to move through you.

I feel these purge waves will only increase as we collectively are moving through a profound evolutionary leap. It is helpful to identify, name, and move through these waves with precision so that you may feel empowered even in the midst of being utterly torn open.

If you are ever feeling the call for deeper support when moving through your own purge wave I have 2 specific sessions that support this process. My 1:1 Quantum Womb/Hara clearing sessions which provide support in clearing and recalibration in your energy body. And my 1:1 Sacred Soma immersions which focus on somatic and emotional processing where you are held with warmth and unwavering love.

Wherever you are in your journey, may you know: each purge is a sacred unburdening, and each wave brings you closer to yourself and the divine.
